My "Starbucks name" is Kay. "Kolina" is not difficult to pronounce or remember, but people can get pretty creative with the spelling: Colleena, Colina, Kollina, Ko Olina, Simon & Garfunkolina...
My dad always told me I was named after a song he once knew while growing up. He remembered neither the tune nor the lyrics, and my searches on Lycos, AltaVista, Excite, Yahoo, and later, Google never returned any promising results.
It wasn't until I was in my twenties when someone about my dad's age asked me if I was named after the song "Corrina, Corrina". My dad is first-generation Chinese and had gotten his L's and R's mixed up! I had been given the wrong name!
Despite this, I love "Kolina" and wouldn't trade it or any other name. So, welcome to my blog: KOLINA, KOLINA.
